Indian Army Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Assam

2010-11-24
An Army chopper today made an emergency landing on a paddy field on the outskirts of Jorhat in upper Assam, but there was no casualty or damage to the helicopter.

The Cheetah helicopter, with two pilots on board, was flying from Dinjan army base in Dibrugarh to Jorhat when it had to make the emergency landing at Raidong Pathar alongside the Bhogdoi river at around 9.30 am, defence sources here told PTI.

It had to land about 7 km before reaching Jorhat airport. The crew are safe and there was no damage to the helicopter which belonged to the Indian Army, they said.

A technical problem was suspected to be the cause of the emergency landing.
